2014 Young Highlanders Rugby Football Club
The Highlanders are a youth rugby club serving the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque, drawing our players primarily from the La Cueva High School district.
The Highlanders play as part of the Albuquerque Youth Rugby United (the "AYRU") league of youth clubs in the city (website www.ayru.com). The AYRU is part of USA Rugby (governing body of rugby in the USA).
We are actively seeking new players for the Spring 2016 season. Boys and girls from ages 7 to 15 play on club sides divided into U9, U11, U13 and U15 teams. Younger and new players start with non-contact competition, older and experienced players transition to contact play at U13 and U15 levels. Practices are on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and all matches are on Saturdays at Balloon Fiesta Park.
The Young Highlanders were founded by Tom Goslau who is now the head coach of UNM Men's Rugby Team. Our current and amazing coaching staff consists of the best: Matt Ely, Brook Jilek, Johan Botha, Hanno Botha and Gerro Prinsloo.
PRACTICE INFORMATION (starting February 23rd, 2016):

The "Bears" train Tue/Wed/Thu from January through May at North Domingo Baca Park as well with matches on Saturdays. The Bears are coached by Sean Mermer and Johan Botha.
