Registration With USA Rugby

How to Complete Your Player Registration with USA Rugby

All players will need to complete a separate registration with USA Rugby, our national governing body, before they can participate in AYRU sponsored events, be eligible for practices and play in matches.  This registration (also known as "CIPP") provides valuable and mandatory accident and medical insurance for all players in USA Rugby and the AYRU.  A players CIPP is good from 1 September, 2014 until August 31st, 2015.  It is transferable to any club or match a player plays in the USA during that time period.

The fee for non-contact "Rookie Rugby" players is $10 (split into $5 for USA Rugby and $5 for New Mexico Youth Rugby, our state organization). The fee for contact rugby "Youth Players" is $30 (split into $20 for USA Rugby and $10 for New Mexico Youth Rugby, our state organization).  Players absolutely cannot participate in matches if they do not have USA Rugby registration completed.  To register follow these steps:

  1. Go to USA Rugby home page clicking on the link below.
  2. Here, click on “Register.” (red tab at top of page)
  3. At the next page type choose "Join USA Rugby" regardless of your previous status with USA Rugby as a player. 
  4. Complete the easy to follow registration steps including checkout and payment.
  5. When prompted to choose a club affiliation you will now have a choice to choose either "Albuquerque Youth Rugby United Non-Contact" (for non-contact Rookie Rugby players) or "Albuquerque Youth Rugby United" (for contact Youth Rugby players).  Choose the one appropriate for your player.  
  6. If you are a high school player joining one of AYRU's special training events, please choose your high school team affiliation when you register at USA Rugby.
  7. When finished you will recieve a confirmation/receipt by email.  Please forward this to nm_ayru@yahoo.com so we can keep in on file with the AYRU as proof of your USA Rugby registration.

Contact or Non-contact Rugby?

The AYRU offers Non-contact rugby for boy and girl players qualified at the U9, U11, U13 and U15 age levels as per the AYRU general registraion.  Boys and girls are mixed on the same teams for non-contact rugby.

Contact rugby is only offered to qualified boy and girl players at the U13 and U15 age levels as per the AYRU general registration.  Boys and girls preferably play on seperate teams, though under special circumstances girls can play in with the boys.
